☆ 数えられる名詞、数えられない名詞の

どちらの前でも使うことができる。

any … 疑問文･否定文で使う。

否定文では ｢１つも〜ない｣ の意味になる。

some … 肯定文で用いる。

ただし、相手に Yes の返答を期待するときは

疑問文でも some を使う。→ 【No.108】

any を肯定文で使ったときは｢どんな〜でも｣の意味。
(この場合、名詞は単数形になる。)

Tom is taller than any other student in my class.

『トムは私たちのクラスで他のどの生徒よりも背が高い。』


… 最上級の文とほぼ同意。

→ No.
I don't have any sisters [have no sister(s)].

『いいえ。私には姉妹がいません。』

※ not (…) any 〜 ｢１つも[１人も] 〜ない｣

『そのビンには水がありますか？』


→ No, there isn't.
There isn't any water [is no water] in it.

『いいえ、ありません。それの中には水がまったくありません。』

Do you know any of them?

『彼らのうちのだれかを知っていますか？』
